Halitosis is a bad breath odor from the mouth or stomach that bothers both the person and those around them. Bad breath negatively affects the social life of the person and creates self-confidence problems.

Bad breath odor is largely caused by bad breath. An oral infection, advanced gum disease or bacteria that settle on food residues that have been in the mouth for more than a few hours can cause odor.

Other systemic problems that cause odor are: sinusitis, diabetes (acetone odor), stomach and intestinal diseases, kidney failure (fishy odor), liver and metabolic disorders.

The cause of bad breath should first be diagnosed and treated accordingly. Halitosis can be prevented by increasing the level of oral hygiene through treatment of decayed teeth and gum diseases, extraction of teeth that need to be extracted and replacement of restorations that need to be renewed .
