Research shows that your smile is often the first thing people look at when they meet you. In a disharmonious smile, your eyes immediately focus on the person’s teeth. We all do it, it is part of our social nature. With a harmonious smile, your brain registers that the person has a pleasant smile and we direct attention to their eyes. Nothing expresses personality, energy and confidence like a healthy and radiant smile. Your smile is your self-confidence.
If you answer yes to one or more of the following questions, it means that you also need aesthetic dentistry.
- Would you like to have someone else’s smile?
- Do you avoid smiling when having your photo taken?
- Is there anything about your smile that bothers you?
- Are your gums uncomfortably prominent when you smile?
- Do you think that the treatments (fillings, crowns, etc.) on your teeth are not compatible?
- Would you like your teeth to be whiter?
- Do you have crowding and/or irregularities in your teeth?
- Do you have gaps between your teeth?
- Do you have many fillings or fractures in your front teeth?

How is smile design done?
Dent Dream Dental Clinic’s specialized dentists make the following evaluations before applying to our patients:
Age
Today, many products and applications make us look younger. Rejuvenating the smile is one of the most effective of these applications.
With the years, we can observe that the color of our teeth darkens, their length shortens and as a result, our smile becomes dull. Thanks to the correct applications of aesthetic dentistry, your smile and teeth can be made completely natural and ideal.
Over the years, our upper lip sags down with the effect of gravity. The distance from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin approaches each other. So the lower part of the face becomes shorter. This also prevents us from chewing well enough. If there is also a problem of clenching and grinding, the teeth shorten rapidly and often break. Teeth start to look bad, they cannot fulfill their functions and in addition to these, problems in the jaw joint start to occur and all these make the person look older.
In order to eliminate these problems and to treat the patient both in terms of health and aesthetics, the right treatments are applied in a timely and adequate manner, and the smile lift is realized by ensuring that the lips are lifted, the lines around the lips are reduced, and the teeth appear in the correct proportion. This procedure is also called dental antiaging.

Gender
There are important differences between male and female smiles. Details such as the form of the teeth, harmony with the face, color selection are evaluated. The anatomy of men and women is different and this difference also affects the smile design. In men, the lines are sharper and more defined, while in women they are more faint. In women, the laugh line is curved, whereas in men, the laugh line is straighter. In women, the corners of the teeth are more rounded, while in men these corners are flatter. In females, the front two teeth are more prominent and longer.
Face shape
Smile design is planned by trying to achieve a proportional symmetry between the shape of the face and the shape of the teeth, and sometimes vice versa. So if you have an oval face, the shape of your teeth is oval or very close to oval. Sometimes we use illusions to disrupt this harmony. A person’s face may be so square, round or long that it makes them uncomfortable. When designing a smile for such people, a smile design is planned to help neutralize the disadvantage created by the face shape .
Skin color
In aesthetic dentistry applications, skin color is one of the most important factors in determining the color of the application. In people with a dark skin color, very light, bright, striking teeth cannot provide a harmonious and beautiful smile, while in people with lighter skin color, these teeth look more natural and the harmony of the smile is provided.
Tooth Analysis
Problems are determined by determining the slopes, length, color and form of the teeth according to important anatomical points in the mouth and face. Aesthetic dentistry treatments are diversified according to the needs of the teeth and shared with the patient.
Color of Teeth
The procedure depends on the level of color. If we are only bothered by the color of our teeth, whitening is the most preventive approach. In some cases, the teeth do not react well to the whitener or the existing color is too dark and not enough whitening can be achieved. If the desired color cannot be achieved, one of the treatments is porcelain laminae. In cases with severe discoloration, the procedure may be first bleaching and then lamination.

Gum Analysis
Ideal, healthy gums;
– Light pink in color
– No bleeding during brushing or spontaneous bleeding
– Appearing as much as necessary and symmetrically on the laugh line,
– Gingiva without papillary loss (the part of the gum that fills the space between two teeth).
Even the most beautiful teeth cannot look attractive if they are not framed by healthy gums. Non-aesthetic gums can be corrected with treatments and minor operations on your gums.
Unhealthy gums: Due to periodontal disease, the gums look red, swollen and shiny. They must be treated before aesthetic dentistry procedures.
Gum recession: As a result of gum recession, some teeth may appear very long and the root surfaces are exposed. In this case, gingival treatment can be performed first and these openings can be closed with soft tissue grafts.
Uneven gum margins: The gums framing the teeth may be too high or too low on some teeth. Gum shapes should be optimized before aesthetic procedures.
Gum pigmentation: As a result of any injury or naturally, there may be different colored areas on the gums. If they are on the smile line, their elimination has a positive effect on aesthetics.
The black – brown colors formed in the gums are completely related to the cells that give color to the body and there is no harm to health. However, it is possible to remove stains that aesthetically disturb people with ‘peeling’.
The peeling procedure that dermatologists perform on the face can be applied to such areas in the mouth. The skin inside the mouth is also made up of layers. By gradually thinning and peeling those layers with laser; the colored layer on top can be eliminated and a more aesthetic appearance can be achieved.
Lip Analysis
High or low lip lines can lead to aesthetic problems. The physician designs the smile by making all lip analyzes before treatment. The support of the teeth to the lip and the position of the incisors is one of the most important elements in creating a smile. The lip-tooth relationship is very important in the laughing position. Whether the lip edges are up or down can completely change the expression.
Botox – Bichectomy – Dermal Filler Applications
In addition to dental and intraoral applications, in some cases, we may need support from dermatology and/or plastic surgery branches in order to integrate the aesthetic appearance with the face. In such cases, we carry out our work together with specialist physicians in the clinics we have contracted.
